Read our letter about this year’s Annual Fund Campaign, our institutional priorities, and giving options in supporting our “Revolutionary Year.”
The Rockbridge Historical Society, one of the oldest and largest county history organizations in Virginia, invites you to become a Contributing Member through contributions to our Annual Fund, or Endowment Gifts.
RHS receives income from our supporters’ gifts, grants corporate sponsorships, and from rent from the historic buildings we own and preserve. These resources help sustain our financial stability, which we have maintained by avoiding debt, and by annually projected balanced budgets. The Annual Fund is a crucial means to help meet all our operating costs. And your contributions will help to build new capacities to fund the programs, publications, museum exhibits, and work in schools that we seek to grow in expanding our community outreach and mission in lifelong education.
Please consider donating online below, or by mailing checks to our address (at bottom). Contact us, as well, in regards to any matching gift opportunities you may have from employers or other philanthropic foundations. Given our status as a 501c3 non-profit, gifts are deductible to the extent provided by state and/or federal law, and the tax regulations of each jurisdiction. For particulars, consult your tax advisor.

Endowment and Planned Giving
The Rockbridge Historical Society invites you to consider investments in our Endowment and Planned Giving opportunities, as a long-term sustainable means for securing our financial strength, and projecting our capacities over time.
Endowed Gifts
To discuss the priorities your Endowment Gifts can advance, and procedures to establish them, please contact us to arrange a time to speak or meet together.
Planned Gifts
Major categories of Planned Gifts include 1) Appreciated Assets, such as Stocks; 2) Charitable Gift Annuities or Trusts; 3) Gifts payable upon the donor’s death, such as a Bequest in a will. You can also review our Planned Giving brochure at:
In conjunction with our Annual Giving Campaigns, and Endowment Fund, we hope some of the alternatives detailed in the brochure linked here will provide you strategic choices in how you choose to invest your contributions, and your care, in our longstanding mission.
If you are interested in learning more about these sustainable gifts to RHS, please email us at Director@RockbridgeHistory.org or call 540.464.1058
We’d love to speak with you about what makes you passionate about Rockbridge history, its people, its places. And we will be glad to help you learn about some of the strategies and outcomes, through which you can secure that rich legacy, for others.
Donate an Artifact
The Rockbridge Historical Society is proud to preserve documents and artifacts that represent the histories, families, legacies and material culture of Rockbridge County. Please email RHS@RockbridgeHistory.org to describe any artifacts that RHS might consider accessioning for its efforts in preservation, research, and exhibition. Photographs of materials are especially welcome for initial assessments, as are descriptions of context and ties to Rockbridge County.
